Jeff Rinek is credited with obtaining the confession from serial killer Cary Stayner who is on California’s death row for the infamous “Yosemite Murders” in 1999 which involved the abduction and murders of two juvenile and two adult females. Jeff Rinek’s success in interview and investigation has been reported in media to include, books, television shows, newspapers and magazines. In 2010 Jeff Rinek appeared as a monthly guest for his expertise and notoriety, on the Sacramento morning television show “SAC and Co”.
Jeff Rinek is currently collaborating on a book, depicting his life and accomplishments that has been purchased by a publisher. In the book a new interview technique which was introduced by Jeff Rinek has proven successful and serves to advance the discipline of interview and interrogation. Additionally, a new episode of a highly reviewed true crime series is being developed, and Jeff has been approached for developing other similar projects. In 2003, Jeff Rinek received the California Sexual Assault Investigators Association “Investigator of the Year” award, as such was the first FBI Special Agent to have received this honor.
Jeff Rinek is also known, and distinguished for his compassion for victims and people who have been harmed by the actions of others, as well as his passion for seeking justice and closure for all people involved in unfortunate circumstance.
As an FBI Special Agent, Jeff Rinek served as the primary coordinator for the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime (NCAVC) which is commonly referred to as Criminal Profiling. Jeff Rinek was certified as a Criminal Profiler. Additionally, he served as the primary coordinator for Crime Against Children, the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (VICAP), and the Kidnapping Coordinator. Jeff Rinek participated in specialized training for White Collar Crime, and Foreign Counter Intelligence. Jeff also served as a Sniper on the FBI’s Sacramento SWAT Team and as a co-pilot in the FBI’s Aviation Program.
